10 Things to Do, See, & Eat in New York City

I am working on an extensive New York City guide, of my favorite, off the beaten path places. In the meantime, I wanted to share some of my favorite places. From where to eat, what to do, and what to see these are places that hold a special place in my heart for one reason or another!

New York City for me is home. The hustle and bustle, the tourists, the commuters, I take it all in and smile at least once a day while walking through the city.

1. Visit The Oculus.
Located in Lower Manhattan, this sleek and modern designed train station cost about 4 billion dollars, making it the most expensive train stop in the world. You can wine, dine and shop in the building. While in the area stop into the 9/11 Memorial and One World Trade Center and Observatory.

2. Grab a Bite to Eat at Chelsea Market.
Maybe not just one bite. Plan your day so you can eat all three meals there. Seriously, go on an empty stomach and only leave after you are full from all the delicious eats in the building.

3. Little Italy
Little Italy offers more than just pizza. Cute wine bars, authentic Italian Restaurants, and charming cafes can be found in the area surrounded by Tribeca, Soho, Chinatown, the Bowery and Lower East Side. One of my favorite places is Gelso & Grand.

4. Walk through Central Park
From Snowy Winter days to Sweltering Summer days, there is never not the right time to take a stroll through Central Park. I ran through it once in a rainstorm and if you thought I was the only crazy one, you are sadly mistaken. Check out Belvedere Castle, Adventure Playground, The Zoo and the Alice in Wonderland Statue.

5. Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.
Early riser's this one is for you to catch the most perfect sunrise. Less people the better off you but it is crowded almost all the time. Snap a few photos along the way, keeping the tourists in your photo, making it more authentic.

6. Eataly has two NYC Locations
The Flatiron and Downtown are both wonderful spots to grab a glass of wine, shop for a picnic in the park, or just browse. I've spotted a celebrity or two coming out of the one in the Flatiron location.

7. Hudson Yards
You can see my dedicated post to Hudson Yards, here. I would recommend Spring, Summer and Fall to visit. Check out The Vessel, Grab a Meal and do some shopping!

8. Walk The Highline
The Highline is an elevated freight rail line transformed into a public park on the West Side of Manhattan. The path runs 34th St & 12th Ave to Gansevoort St. There are many entrances as well.

9. Catch a Broadway Show
My top three recommendations in no specific order; Wicked, Dear Evan Hanson & Chicago! However there is a show for everyone from Musicals to Off-Broadway.

10. Times Square
If you have never been to NYC, visit quick, get your photo and get out of the area. It's a 100% a tourist spot, that doesn't warrant more than 10 minutes in it.

What is your favorite thing to do, see or eat in New York City. If you haven't been is it on your bucket list?
