Friday Favorites #31

Happy Friday, friends!

I am all about customer service when it comes to working retail; however this week was a little rough. It's all good because on Saturday I am headed to Spain for 12 days! I am super excited about this vacation! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! This will be my last post until after Mother's Day, when I return.

Love these 10 New Hotel Commandments. Let's talk #1.

Still preparing for my long flight this weekend; however this list is making it easier.

I am all for GNI (Girl's Night In) without Netflix. As someone who loves DIY I am all for making jewelry!

Talking about DIY check out these Target design hacks!

As a newer blogger it is always interesting to read posts by bloggers that have inspired you. This post about #Sponsored content was very informative!

Friday Favorites #30

Happy Friday, friends!

This week has been a busy one with work, plenty of errands, lots of shooting and editing and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

This weekend I will be working and doing some local exploring and food tasting at some new joints that recently opened in Central New Jersey!

As always be sure to share in the comments or leave a comment on Instagram what you are loving this week or what is making you smile!

Pretty in Pink
Lately I have been falling down the Pinterest hole. I have been inspired to make some adjustments to my wardrobe, up my travel, and get my health and fitness on track. Any boards you recommend I should follow?

I have a minor, OK, major obsession with cute notebooks, planners, and journals if you ask my sister. Each one keeps different to-do lists or bucket list ideas. Lately I have been inspired by Leslie's List to start creating something like this for New Jersey/ NYC!

I bought these New Balance for JCrew 620 Sneakers for my upcoming trip to Spain! Looking for other cute sneakers, find them here!

What is holding you back? What are you afraid of? Why are you waiting? Now is the time to STOP WAITING if you ask Ali Feller. Talk about inspiration. Listen now. I have done so much writing since I listened to her podcast episode, not once but three different times!

I have wanted to visit Australia since I was 11 years old. Funny, Melbourne, is the ideal vacation for my solo travels ( as an Aries) if you are reviewing this article. I am going to take this as a huge sign and make my 2018 big trip, Australia! I now put it in writing and will hold myself accountable.

Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored and instead is a list of my favorite things this week. As normal, it includes some  fashion items which means there are a few affiliate links via ShopStyle. It takes time and money to maintain a blog so I thank you for the support!

Whether I am on the beach, near the lake, by the river or walking along a creek I am always in my happy place, by a body of water. Growing up near the Jersey Shore I was spoiled, spending as much time as possible on the beach. My family vacationed in Florida every year and we always found the closest beach. I went to college in Rhode Island and spent a summer in Newport! Summers were also spent on Martha's Vineyard, one of my all time favorite places in the world.

When I am close to water, there is not an overwhelming thought in my head. I can usually shut down my brain and just enjoy the sounds of crashing waves or the calmness depending on the day. This past weekend I found myself visiting two New Jersey Parks, both with large lakes.

I was off on Friday and spent the morning at the gym and editing photos before meeting my dad for a 5 mile walk at the Manasquan Reservoir. The weather was in the mid 70's and the breeze of the lake was gave just enough chill not to burn me too badly. Everyone was out riding their bikes, running, or walking. I found myself dreaming of the beach days I will have this summer while people watching and having a great conversation with my father.

Friday night I was off to dinner with one of my closest girlfriends. We talked family, dating, married life, and what our beach days will look like this summer on the Jersey Shore!! There will be some happy hours and nights down the shore!

On Sunday after working for a few hours I headed to Lake Topanemus for the afternoon. Children on the playground, adults walking and fishing and even some folks were out on kayaks. I decided I would have an early dinner and eat at the park! After my walk around the lake I took out a notebook and just started writing before my stomach started to growl, letting my know it was time for some Matzoh! Only another day and then back to a good ol' New Jersey bagel, friends. Being near the water I was inspired to write more about my feelings as well as what I want for my future. Being 100% honest and vulnerable is scary but isn't anything that is worth it.

I leave for Spain in a few weeks and am more then ready for this vacation! You bet I will be visiting the beaches on Barcelona.

Are you more a beach or city person?

Friday Favorites #29

Happy Friday, friends!

Passover started on Monday and we had both Monday and Tuesday night Seders at my aunt's house, locally here in New Jersey. I worked the beginning  of the week and have yesterday and today off which is nice! The store is also closed on Easter so I am hoping to spend the day outdoors since the weather is suppose to be gorgeous.

Countdown: 16 Days

A goal I recently set was to take lunches to work everyday. Here are 20 lunches that you can meal prep on Sunday!

Great lessons from a woman working in the White House. With so many women now looking to take on roles in politics this is a great read.

With my trip to Spain in 16 days I am already thinking about packing lists.

From the East Coast to the West Coast here are some great budget bites! Being on the East Coast I have added some of these locations to my list for the summer!

Small goals I always tell myself are more attainable. I needed the inspiration to lose 10 pounds.

I am 7 days into my 30's. For the next ten years there will be a 3 before every number for my birthday. It's a new decade. It's a new chapter. Yet, it doesn't feel any different.

Last Friday on my 30th I worked the morning shift and then wen to dinner with my family. We celebrate every birthday for every family member no matter the age. I chose to have my birthday dinner at Fresco Steak & Seafood Grill in Milltown, NJ. Our reservation was called for 7:30 and therefore my sister, her bf and I drove together. Funny story as we were pulling in a car was turning into one spot and she was pulling into an opposite spot until the person realized it was a reserved spot and took hers. Angry sister was fuming so much she got out of the car and slammed the door, leaving me locked in the car in the back seat. Happy Birthday to me (LOL).

Once seated we ordered the absolutely delicious Rock Shrimp as an appetizer while looking over the menu and discussing birthday pasts. From 1st birthday to surprise parties we throw some great ones! Every meal tasted perfect and there were very little leftovers. I ordered one of my all time favorite dishes, the Seafood Risotto.

No birthday would be complete without dessert. Especially since Passover was a few days later and we wouldn't be able to have a cake. I am never one to turn down a great chocolate cake! May this year be filled with love, health and happiness!

In a little over two weeks I am traveling to Spain with my Aunt for 12 days as my birthday gift! I have only been out of the country one other time, to Israel on Birthright. I can hardly contain my excitement at this point. My sister gifted me, my very own first real suitcase. I guess you have to turn 30 to have such exciting gifts! I also received spending money for my trip as well!

On Saturday I spent the day with some friends as well as my sisters friends! The weather was perfect so we headed to Asbury for the afternoon! I kept the celebrating low-key as I am not one to go out and party.

30 is off to a wonderful start and I am looking forward to the year ahead! I have so many things I want to accomplish as I have yet to check off any of these. With that I will achieve all of them this year before my 31st birthday!

Is there one thing you want to accomplish before you next birthday?

Friday Favorites #28

Happy Friday, friends!

This week has been filled with a lot of memories, emotions and some really deep thoughts. I turn 30 today. As I write that so many thoughts are running through my head. How did I get here? What are my 30's going to look like? So many more questions but that's good for now.

Yesterday was my day off and I did some shopping early in the morning before the massive rain storm came through. As for celebrating I will be with my family!

April Showers Bring May Flowers
I've heard of Heather Geronemus through friends, when I was living in Florida, and she is one amazing, inspiring lady. She has triumphed through tragedy and her company stood behind her. More companies could learn from this.

73 Questions with Selena Gomez. Lately I have asked myself more important questions. I want more interviews/podcasts/articles with questions from everyone, not just celebrities.

I am loving JerseyBites. A bunch of cool food writers come together for this great website.

Have you ever just not knew where to start? Carly nailed it with this post. I realized that I need to learn to breathe better.

I finally hit 800 followers on my _Travelist_ twitter account. It has been so much fun connecting and I am looking forward to more Twitter Chats, inspiration, and travel ideas!

National Volunteer Month

The month of April is a special one for me. First, it is my birthday month and second it is National Volunteer Month, something I am extremely passionate about. The month is dedicated to honoring all the volunteers in different communities and organizations all the while encouraging volunteerism throughout the month. From a one time act to a recurring act of volunteering many organizations rely on their volunteers.

I remember in High School we had to commit to 25 community service hours. I for one, thought how little that really was and set a personal goal to volunteer for 250 hours over my four years. I achieved my goal and more from volunteering at my synagogue to the local food bank and other events happening locally in my community. In college I volunteered and donated to the Ronald McDonald House and other charities that held a place in my heart.

If you have been reading this blog or follow me on Instagram or Twitter you know I lost my mother to Breast Cancer back in 2010. Volunteering with American Cancer Society, the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, other organizations dedicated to Cancer research is something that I truly care about and enjoy.

Now it's your turn. There are so many ways to get out there volunteer and give back.

Maybe you have been thinking about giving blood for a while. The American Red Cross is seeking donations.

Connecting Veterans Through Volunteerism.

Host a Food Drive. Collect items for Shelters. These are simple tasks that make a lasting impact on those in need.

Those are just a few suggestions. This month each day I plan to share an organization on Twitter that is doing wonderful things for the community as well as share ways you can volunteer.

What organization are you going to volunteer with this month?
