Happy Hanukkah
Happy Hanukkah!
A favorite holiday of mine, not for the presents or the food, but for the meaning of spreading light in a time when we need it the most, especially this year, where it has been filled with such darkness. Tikkun Olam, "for the sake of repairing the world" or "Jewish social justice" is a large part of Hanukkah, but for me also, all year round.
This year many of us are celebrating away from our families. Separated at such a time, when we need one another, but cannot be together physically. For me, when I lit the menorah last night, alone I felt in that moment a sense of sadness but then almost immediately felt such gratitude to be able to light the menorah. I also felt connected knowing other family members were lighting their menorah at the same time.
Whatever you are feeling this holiday season, know you are not alone. Know that we can spread joy around the world even if we are not with our loved ones in person. FaceTime with your family members when you are lighting the menorah, spin the dreidel and give yourself a treat because Hanukkah is about the celebration!
How are you celebrating the holidays this year?
XoXo,
Tracy
