Tracy Say's: Eat at Phoenicia Diner
The Phoenicia Diner has a long history of serving locals, tourists, and regulars who are drawn to the natural beauty of the area. Offering fresh food sourced from the Catskills and Hudson Valley Farms when available is how owner, Mike Cioffi keeps folks coming back time and time again. From seasonal to local ingredients, the menu is carefully crafted. Currently, you are ordering at the airstream and finding a picnic table either under the patio or in the field off to the right. Large picnic tables under the patio do have some fans, which would be great for those hot days. The area to the right also has picnic tables with umbrellas offering some shade as well. As for the restroom situation, currently there are two port-a-potties behind the airstream! Unfortunately, I was unable to see the inside of the dinner, which will give me an excuse to go back for another visit! Note that they are closed on Wednesdays.
Everything on the menu sounded delicious, making for a hard time on what to decide. The famous Donut Holes are only available Fri-Sun from 9am-3pm so I was unable to order them. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner you can not go wrong with any meal. I ordered the Avocado Toast with Lox and the Aqua De Pina Mocktail, which was the perfect combination. It was close to 95 degrees and I didn't think I would enjoy a hot meal making my decision an easier one.
Here is some of the merchandise you can purchase, and their cookbook is supposedly amazing if you enjoy cooking!
You review the menu before ordering on the airstream. There a few signs with the food menu, the cocktail/mocktail menu and a beverages menu! You will have to wear a mask and be six feet apart while waiting.
The mountain views from the table, from your car, and from the parking lot are breathtaking. The diner is located right on the main road and easily accessible. I was lucky to grab a spot right away; however "The Lot" has been turned into their main dining space. I recommend going on an off time and what is great about that is Breakfast is served all day!
The next time you visit the Catskills, make sure you add this to your trip! You don't want to miss out, I promise.
XoXo,
Tracy
