The Little Things

Find joy in the little things. Focus your energy, time and mind on finding the little things. Be open to the people around you. Welcome the "new" with open arms.

Those little moments are a small part of a much bigger picture, our best life. I lost my mom in 2010 to breast cancer. Her battle was long and hard, yet she always had a smile on her face. She found happiness in the smallest things. I didn't know it at the time, but she was trying to teach me a lesson before leaving this earth.

Last weekend I took a last minute road-trip north, with no plan or idea. It was perfect. I unplugged for the most part. As I was enjoying brunch I was speaking with the hostess who said, she moved back to the town to experience "the little things" like having a garden, watching her niece in a school play, etc....It clicked. My heart fluttered. My eyes filled with tears. I finally understood what my mom was saying in those last weeks at the hospital. Change doesn't happen overnight. Grief may never disappear. But it's taking what we learn and moving forward and not holding onto hope from the past.

This is mumble post and one that no one may relate to. Yet, writing this has been extremely cathartic.

I am going to keep a list on my phone called "The Little Things" maybe I will share it or maybe I won't. I promise to keep this list and remind myself daily it is so important to embrace the little things.

Now it's your turn. Share a little thing that has made you smile recently.

XoXo,
Tracy
