Self-Guided NYC Food Tour

One of the best tourist attractions in New York City, is actually a food tour in my opinion. Now, I am not telling you to dish out $$$ for tours, more like create your own self-guided tour. NYC is the mecca of food diversity. In the borough of Manhattan alone you have every cuisine you could want. From Chinatown to Jewish Deli's there is something for everyone!

Who said street food was no good. I will say vendors outside Central Park, Union Square, and Columbus Circle are usually my go-to stops.

Looking for a great boozy brunch or that perfect NYC bagel? Breakfast is a must if you plan to walk the city.

Russ & Daughters: The perfect bagel with smoked salmon, knishes and more.

Pardon My French: Where they speak English & French and serve up bottomless horseradish vodka infusion Bloody Mary or Mimosa.

Union Fare: You can't go wrong with a Benedict Board. A choice of three different Benedict's in one sitting.

When it comes to grabbing lunch step out of your comfort zone. Try a cuisine you may have not had before.

Luke's Lobster: Did someone say, Lobster Roll? There are a few locations throughout the city which makes it easy to grab one!

John's Pizzeria: located in the heart of Time's Square, this well-known establishment doesn't sell slices, but does amazing pies!

Mimi Cheng's Dumplings: Enjoy Taiwanese dumplings made by hand everyday at one of two locations in Nolita or the East Village.

When you are in New York City and you are looking for those delicious meals make sure you budget for them. As someone who loves food, I am always willing to spend a little more on dinner when I know it's going to great.

Chinese Tuxedo: Make sure you try the Dim Sum. Located at 5 Doyers Street you are in for a treat.

Mermaid Oyster Bar & Mermaid Inn: Enjoy the Oyster Bar for dinner and the two Inn locations serve up a great dinner and brunch. Mini tuna tartare tacos are my jam.

Esca: Featuring a seafood-based menu with plenty of pastas, this southern Italian trattoria is the perfect date night spot.

Chelsea Market is full of great places including some of my favorites: Amy's Bread, Doughnuttery, L'Arte Del Gelato, and Los Taco No 1

My motto when it comes to food, is Explore, Find it, Try it, and Share it. No need to pay for a food tour when you can create your own! Here are some other NYC Foodie Finds

What is your favorite food to try on a tour?

XoXo,
Tracy

  1. Yes, so much good food in NYC. I think the problem is its hard to find room in your stomach to fit it all!

    1. Yes, that is sometimes the problem, which is why I always recommend walking it off! Walk the city and you will be surprised what you find on each corner.
